Customisation: The Pantone Matching System

Here at Hydropac we offer a personalised branding service to our customers if required, for a logo or slogan to be printed onto our ice packs and packaging systems. Whilst this is not a requirement to place an order with us, it is a service we find is very popular, as product branding is extremely important even in this modern day digital age we find ourselves in.

Please note that if you do not wish to add your own logo to our products, our ice packs will come with the Hydropac logo printed on one side as standard – this is for traceability purposes and because we’re proud of our adherence to quality.

Going back to adding logos, we wanted to touch on colour matching and the Pantone system – this is something we often have questions about, as we need any artwork sent in to adhere to this so we can print to the best quality.

The Pantone Matching System (PMS)

The Pantone system is a universal colour “language” that gives each colour/shade a unique code; there are over 2000 different colours on the system. There are actually two variants in circulation – the Pantone Matching System (PMS) and the Pantone Fashion, Home + Interiors system (FHI). We use PMS.

By adhering to the colour codes used by the PMS, we can ensure that our printing exactly matches the colours used on other marketing materials you may have, such as online resources, printed brochures, business cards etc. The PMS also offers more colours than those traditionally mixed by other systems such as CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (black)) or the RGB (red, green, blue) colour model.

Converting to PMS codes

If your current logo or artwork doesn’t currently use PMS coding, then we would need whatever system in use to be converted to PMS. There are various ways of doing this depending on the system currently being used; the simplest answer would be to ask your designer or branding expert for a PMS version of your artwork, but if this is not possible then you can use various tools to do it yourself.

These include:

This tool also allows you to search for a specific PMS colour by code:

Of course, if you need any help, we’ll always try our best to get a solution in place – just contact us if you’re struggling to convert your artwork or if you have any other questions about our personalisation options.
